How the migration works

A controlled path from discovery to retirement

Every migration is different; the discipline is consistent. Establish the current state, expose dependencies, validate the target, execute in controlled waves, and retire the legacy environment only after stability is proven.

01Audit and classify. Inventory systems, owners, and dependencies; analyze live traffic (60 to 90 days on recent programs) to separate active from inactive.
02Plan the waves. Migration waves, cutover procedures, rollback paths, and automation for inventory, testing, and burn-down reporting.
03Build and validate the target. Equivalent configurations on the target platform, pre-cutover health checks, and readiness signoffs with service owners.
04Execute controlled cutovers. Continuous monitoring through every cutover, with logical decommissioning preserving a rapid rollback path.
05Stabilize, then retire. Post-cutover traffic monitoring confirms stability before legacy infrastructure is decommissioned.
06Document and hand off. Runbooks, tribal knowledge, and monitoring documentation standardized for your team.
